how it works

Octavi lets you control the radios, VOR receivers, the FMS devices, the autopilot and the transponder from just one device. The way this works is through a set of context buttons that let you select the instrument that you need to manipulate. The selected button is then highlighted to indicate the activated instrument.

In each mode, the main function of the dual-axis rotary knob is controlling frequencies, transponder codes and autopilot variables. As an extra, "shift" functions are available for each mode - this enables you to control headings, courses, the altimeter QNH and the transponder mode from Octavi, too.

compatibility with your flight sim

If you're using Lockheed Martin Prepar3D or Microsoft FSX, or if you're using highly customized or complex aircraft, you can use Octavi with MobiFlight. MobiFlight is a free open-source tool that lets you choose which of Octavi's buttons controls which function freely. Flight simmers already use MobiFlight for a wide range of aircraft and setups. Due to the large community behind MobiFlight, configurations for many custom aircraft are easily available. They even maintain a simple-to-use library of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 “events”, or in other words functions that you can assign to buttons.
